Consumer watchdog, ACCC, takes Jetstar and Virgin to court over ‘drip pricing’

147178-acccTHE Australian consumer watchdog has instituted separate proceedings against two budget airlines, Jetstar and Virgin, over its fees and charges that are allegedly ‘dripped’ into the headline airfare.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has lodged the action against the two airlines in the Federal Court, alleging that each company “engaged in misleading or deceptive conduct and made false or misleading representations in relation to particular airfares”.

Parcels to be delivered on Saturdays, but private letter deliveries reduced on weekdays

AUSTRALIA Post has announced guaranteed next-day Express Post letter and satchel delivery to households six days a week from the end of the year.

It comes as the boss of the postal service says the sending of the “humble letter” is rapidly becoming extinct.

Consumer watchdog alleges Coles of bullying tactics

SUPERMARKET giant Coles has been accused of bullying tactics against small suppliers, in unprecedented court action by consumer watchdog, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).  

The ACCC has instituted proceedings in the Federal Court of Australia, alleging that Coles engaged in ‘unconscionable conduct’ in relation to its Active Retail Collaboration (ARC) program, in contravention of the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).
