Perfect scores help Melbourne regain World’s Most Liveable City crown for 4th year in a row

MELBOURNE has again been named the World’s Most Liveable City, topping the Economist Intelligence Unit’s Global Liveability Index for the fourth year running.

Melbourne, with an overall score of 97.5, beat the other 139 cities assessed, performing exceptionally well on all five overarching criteria – stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education and infrastructure. Melbourne achieved perfect scores of 100 on healthcare, education and infrastructure. It also scored a perfect 100 in the sub-category of sport, within the culture and environment category.

Fears that Aussie kids are turning into ‘couch potatoes’, report card

CHILDREN in Australia rank among the worst in the world for overall overall physical activity levels, narrowly avoiding a fail in a new national report card released today.

Supported by the National Heart Foundation of Australia and Exercise and Sports Science Australia, the inaugural Active Healthy Kids Australia Report Card on Physical Activity for Children and Youth has found 80% of 5-17 year olds are not meeting the Australian physical activity guidelines of at least 60 minutes of exercise each day.
